Round the Horne tour....

The tour has nearly reached the end after playing theatres in Colchester, Guildford, Richmond, Malvern, Plymouth & Windsor. This revival of the famous and hilarious 1960's radio show originally starring Kenneth Williams and Kenneth Horne had a great reaction from audiences.

It was fantastic to work with such talented musicians, actors & singers with almost as much laughter backstage as in each of the performances. We all hope it will go out on the road again - maybe next year...

Music examining tour in Malaysia...

So now I've done a string of performances, it's time to listen to others. I'm heading off to Malaysia for the first 3 weeks of November to examine music grade candidates for Rockschool, the international music exams board.

This will be an interesting trip to a new destination for me - there are a lot of very talented young players learning through the Rockschool grades, so I expect to hear some great performances.

I'll be back to teaching and playing in the UK again from the end of November, no doubt performing one-off gigs plus a couple of performances on bass guitar with "Macbeth the Musical" (!) at a local college.

Other music

In between touring and teaching commitments, I've mananged to find some time to practice the Renaissance lute - a new venture.

Recently I played my first duets with another lutenist and the sound of two lutes together is wonderful. After playing music by Dowland, Robinson, Holborne and other 16th/17th century lutenists on the classical guitar for many years, it is interesting to finally attempt it on the instrument for which the music was written.

I hope also to find time to return to trio music with flute and cello in December and maybe resurrect the rock band - both projects have been on hold for a while. Just too busy...
